Orientation Event

Upon arrival meet up with our Resident Director who will help you get acquainted to your new home with a walking tour of the local area and campus and introduction to the public transport system.


Housing

If you choose to study at Korea University, you will live on campus in student dormitory accommodation with twin-share rooms. Utilities and internet are included.

If you choose Hanyang University, you will stay in either on-campus or off-campus dormitories that will help immerse you into Korean student life right away! Dorms consist of air-conditioned double rooms with free WiFi. You will also have access to laundry facilities, dining halls, convenience stores, cafes, and a fitness center.


TEAN Staff

Our team works with you start to finish through the study abroad process. Our programs staff will help guide you through the application process to go abroad, then upon arrival in South Korea, you will meet our team who will provide assistance during your time in-country. Our staff is readily available and able to assist you with any academic, social, or cultural questions or issues that you may face during your time abroad.

Cultural Activities

If you choose to study at Korea University, their “buddy assistants” will help immerse you in the local culture. These local KU students help organize social and cultural activities for you to feel at home and part of the KU family. From Korean traditional arts to learning popular K-Pop dances, KU makes every effort to ensure that you make the most of your winter in Korea.

Hanyang University also has its own cultural immersion committee call the Winter Angels of Hanyang International Winter School or Wingels for short. The Wingels are volunteer students who ensure that your stay at Hanyang is memorable. They arrange several tours and activities that highlight the Seoul’s rich history and culture, including a trip to the famous palace Gyeongbokgung and a K-food cooking class.

Courses

Students enroll in one course for 3 Korea University credits, which usually transfers as 3 U.S. semester credits (or 4.5 quarter credits). The participant’s home university will determine ultimate credit approval and transfer. Special approval to take 2 courses can be requested. Contact us for more information. 

Students will enroll in their course during the application process, but can make changes up until the first two days of classes during the add/drop period.

  • The university ranks 24th in the 2020 QS World University Rankings of the best universities in Asia and 150th in the world.
  • While the university has expanded to offer a comprehensive range of courses, it is still known for its technological focus and was ranked 11th in Reuter’s 2019 Asia Pacific’s Most Innovative Universities
  • Located in east Seoul, Hanyang University’s campus is easily accessible to the rest of the capital.
  • The campus is similar to American university campuses, offering comparable student facilities and amenities.

Courses

Choose 1 course worth 3 Hanyang University credits (3 U.S. semester credits or 4.5 quarter credits). Students also have the option of adding a 1 credit course for a maximum of 4 credits. The participant’s home university will determine ultimate credit approval and transfer.

Students will register for their course prior to the program start, but can make changes up until the start of classes during the add/drop period.

Eligibility

Eligibility

  • 2.5 GPA. Students with a slightly lower GPA should contact TEAN and may be admitted on a case-by-case basis.
  • Enrolled at a two- or four-year institution at the time of participation.
  • High school students and recent high school graduates may be admitted on a case-by-case basis.

TEAN has a rolling admissions process. Late applications may be considered. Contact TEAN if the application deadline has passed.

PAYMENT DEADLINES

Your signed program contract and full payment for the program are due by the program deadline. Please note we do have options for using financial aid and enrolling in a payment plan if you cannot make full payment by the payment deadline.
