This section includes information specific to the Summer 2019 TEAN Thailand program. Please click through and read all of the information below for important details relating to your upcoming summer abroad. But first make sure you’ve read all of Step 6: Get There. Including the information on Insurance, Health & Safety; Packing for your semester; Communication and Finances while Abroad.

Arrival in Thailand

Please follow the instructions below to ensure your arrival is handled efficiently and smoothly.  The airport pickup process is usually quite easy; however, you should take note of these instructions in case you miss your original flight and arrive independently on a later flight. Flight delays can easily alter your travel plans.

Important Note: It is your responsibility to notify The Education Abroad Network in a timely manner if you experience flight delays and/or itinerary changes.  Please call any of the emergency contacts listed in the Contact Information.

Step 1:  Once you have arrived into the Chiang Mai Airport, collect your baggage and pass through customs.  Once you exit customs, walk through to the Arrivals Hall and turn right (you’re still inside the building). There is an area with seating in front of you where you can wait for the TEAN staff to pick you up at the below times. When TEAN staff arrive they will be in the Arrivals area with a TEAN sign.

Airport pick up:  9am – 12pm

Note: If you are transferring domestically in Thailand and enter the domestic arrivals hall, you will need to walk 5 minutes through the building to the International Arrivals area to meet the TEAN staff. Just follow the signs in English.

If you arrive outside of these times you will need to take a taxi to your accommodation. See below for instructions.

Step 2: Do not panic if you do not see the TEAN staff right away. If, after 15 minutes of waiting at the above pick up times, you have not located us, please call the TEAN Resident Coordinator, Nala at 086.365.3195. (+668-6365-3195 from US number) OR use the airport free wifi to post a message in the TEAN Thailand Summer Facebook group.

Step 3: f you cannot get in touch with Nala, please call TEAN Thailand Director, Lauren at 082.383.0563 (+668-2383-0563 from US number).

Students arriving outside of the airport pick-up times will need to make their own way to their accommodation.

DCondo: Students staying at DCondo who arrive outside of the TEAN airport pick-up times will receive an email from TEAN staff notifying you of where and when they will meet  you to get you checked into your room at DCondo.

UniLoft: Students staying at UniLoft will be able to check in and get your room key at the UniLoft office.

Requesting a taxi
There are two taxi booking desks after you exit Customs, but before you leave the airport building. Both are fine, and will quote a set price (between 200 – 250 Thai baht). Request a taxi to your assigned housing (see below for accommodation addresses).

Contact Information

Contact Information

Below are suggested notes on how to communicate with TEAN staff members during your program. These notes are also applicable to parents and guardians.

Upon arrival in Thailand we will provide you with a TEAN wallet-sized contact card. This card contains contact information for our staff members, U.S. consulates in Thailand, emergency numbers in Thailand and dialing instructions to/from Thailand, as well as the Uniloft address written in Thai.

Important Contact Notes for Emergencies

  • Never use email in emergency/urgent situations.

  • Flight changes and/or delays are considered “urgent” if our staff is scheduled to meet you at
the airport or at your accommodation.

  • For particularly time sensitive emergencies please call both our U.S. Urgent After Hours
Contact number (574.239.6545) and the appropriate TEAN Thailand contact.
We are generally available 24 hours per day/7 days per week, as we have staff in both hemispheres.

Important Contact Notes for Routine Problems during the Semester

  • Once you are in Thailand, your Resident Coordinator will be your first contact when issues arise.
  • Email is fine to use, but if you need an answer within 24 – 48 hours you should probably place a phone call.

  • If your routine question/problem is not addressed within 72 hours your email was most likely not received and a phone call may also be needed. If communication problems exist please email Lauren Gabell at for assistance.

  • Please note: Email is not 100% effective. If you are experiencing delays to your questions most likely there is an email problem. In these instances, please call. We do not want any of your questions going unanswered.

Contacts for Parents/Guardians

Urgent messages should be left with either our Urgent After Hours Contact number (574.239.6545) or the cell phone numbers listed below for the Thailand staff:
Nala Promtang: 011 66 86 365 3195 (from U.S.)
