On-Campus Housing

On-Campus Housing

Cost: $5,100

Location: Deakin University – Burwood (Melbourne) Campus

Management: Deakin University Accommodation Office

Commute: Short 10-minute walk to the middle of campus

Important Note: Final room allocations are at the discretion of the Deakin accommodation office.

The Apartments: These units are average shared five- and six-bedroom apartments located near Deakin University’s Burwood campus. There are a limited number of beds available for this location. Deakin on-campus housing offers students an opportunity to live very close to campus and enjoy greater interaction with Australians and other study abroad and international students. Because Deakin manages their housing, TEAN has very little control over roommate requests. Within the five- and six-bedroom apartments each bedroom has a single bed, built-in wardrobe (closet) and study area. In the communal areas of the apartment there is a lounge, kitchen, bathroom, laundry and internet. The housing is within walking distance of all the Melbourne Burwood Campus facilities including food outlets, health clinic, gym and bank. The Deakin Burwood Campus is located about 40 minutes outside of the Melbourne CBD and is easily accessible via public transportation.

Accessibility: Accessible options are available at Deakin. Please feel free to reach out to your program manager for more information on this housing option.

Frequently Asked Questions

If I pay extra can you guarantee a housing preference?

No. We cannot accept extra money. We feel very strongly that every participant should have an equal opportunity for each accommodation option.

How much does public transport cost?

Travel within Melbourne on the tram system is a very convenient and affordable way to make your way around the city. Regardless of where you live, some students will want to purchase a monthly transportation pass, a MyKi card, to fully experience all that the city has to offer. There is a free tram that operates within the downtown area of the city which TEAN students living in Urbanest can also take advantage of.

How do we determine who shares bedrooms in our housing?

Students should request any roommate preferences in their housing preference form. We will do our best to accommodate these requests. However, final room allocations will at the discretion of the housing provider.
